Heather took on the role of Director in Fall 2022 after serving as the Associate Director of CxC for six years. She received her Ph.D. in English with a concentration in Rhetoric and Composition in 2010 from the University of Kansas where she taught first- and second-year writing and literature courses and worked in the first- and second-year writing program. She then served as assistant and associate professor of English at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN where she taught first-year writing, research writing, business writing, investigative writing, and cultural rhetorics and developed a writing-enriched curriculum program.

She has over 20 years of experience working in writing program administration and teaching writing at the university level. She enjoys working with departments and faculty as they create communication-enhanced curricula and pedagogy as well as supporting and training communication consultants as they work with faculty and students to enrich disciplinary communication in the undergraduate curriculum. Her teaching and administrative work is influenced by her research interest in WAC/WID, genre studies, composition pedagogy, and writing program administration. You can find her publications related to these areas in CCC, Composition Studies, Journal of Faculty Development, WPA Journal, Composition Forum, and Reader.
